Really? I didn't realise. I'm out of the country on holiday at the moment and just picking up bits of info... This all seems a bit of a messy announcement from Ninty. Not surprising the share price plummeted then.

I searched again and there's conflicting info from Nintendo:

"tablet-style controller will not be sold separately"

Looks like they haven't decided yet, and can't even give a consistent message on it... But the multiplayer demos on the E3 conference were with one tablet controller only (the remaining controllers were Wiimotes).
