The Kirby trailer, at the least, is fantastic. Skyward Sword trailer is nice too, of course. |
Kirby looks good. New Skyward Sword trailer just BLEW MY MIND. Looks like it's gonna be an AMAZING game!!
But I have to say overall, as an owner of a Wii only, I found the presentation quite disappointing. Announcing new hardware is always cool but the main attraction should always be software. I'm not falling for that same trick again where - like with the wiimote - the 'possible new experiences' are what sell the console... The Wii had a lot of potential new games/ways to interact shown when it came out, but most of the ideas that were shown never left the drawing board, or were only realized as mini-games.
If you are an owner of a 3DS then I think Nintendo did a phenomenal job, with so many games coming this year, and with so many cool features like multi-player in starfox and kid icarus.
But how many people own a 3DS? like, 5 million?? VS. about 90 million Wii owners who were shown nothing? Is there no such thing as recognition (better yet, gratitude) from a company to its audience for giving it its most successful console ever??
This essentially (for me at least) contradicts everything Nintendo have ever said about 'being about the software'... To me the impression was obviously that 'software is a means to sell hardware' and not the other way around as it should be... That feels like a betrayal of a pretty fundamental value to me...
I sincerely hope some deeper games are announced for Wii before the week is over.
Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!
