its probably before she became a princess, but its true she doesn't look like her, infact i don't remember her having blonde hair, more reddish brunette.

It depends on the game. In SSBB and Twilight Princess for example she seems more like a brunette, but when you see her cell-shaded appearances  and Ocarina of TIme she is blonde. I think I like the TP Zelda the best. GIves a certain elegance you expect from a "good" princess.
