I think we just expected way too much. We wanted Nintendo to blow us away with the new console and the controller and loads of games including new Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Wii Sports plus atleast 10 new IP's and a million 3rd party exclusives, while still managing to show off tons of stuff for 3ds and somehow having lots of games for DS and Wii as well.
Once the dust has settled I think (most) people will look at it in a different and perhaps a more positive way.
Edit:
I've only checked IGN and they were very positive about it after testing the controller and some demos. Hopefully we will get more hands-on impressions from people who have actually experienced the new console.
