As for the games pacing. I'm sure missions work the exact same way as the first game because thats the impression the demo has given. |
Dude, the demo had 3 missions. This is a 20 hour game. No way can someone make a decent impression on the entire game from that. In this review they straight out said that it won't feel like the first game and there's no way to refute them from 3 random missions in the demo...
As with your navigation comments they said in the review that navigation is fun and much smoother in this game. The only problem is when you're try to do some precise movements on say a certain part of a building to say get a blash shard in a wierd place. This was in the first game and I've seen how it can happen in inF 2 because just like in inF 1 cole has a mind of his own where he'll latch on to the most obvious thing to latch onto instead of what you want him to. In my opinion, it's not really much of a complaint because you wouldn't expect to collectible to be a cake walk to obtain but actually require a little work. His only real complaint about navigation was that near the end of the game you get a power that makes it all so much smoother and more fun and that just seems wierd to have something so great so close to the end.
I've beaten the first game 4 times on hard mode and still play it fairly often today. It's my 2nd favorite PS3 game. I enjoyed it the demo for inF2 but will hold my judgement and actually play inF2 before I start declaring it better than the first because of a demo. Straight of the bat I notice the camera is very annoying in inF2. It's way to close to Cole and zooms in even closer when doing melee combat which makes it hard to keep track of what's going on around you and because a big problem in smaller areas and walk ways or in really crowded fights. This shouldn't be the case in a third person action game where there's a lot of platforming involved.
Also, everything just seemed so much easier in this game... For the big enemies there was a clear answer to kill them. L1 + Triangle made short work of anything. I also noticed you ALWAYS had access to those moves. You can spam them like crazy and completely deplete your guage and still keep spamming them. That made no sense to me. Why the hell do they effect your guage anyway if that's the case? EDIT: And I did make sure to fight these enemies with the demo set on hard. It made no difference. Still a cake walk.
