In the latest issue of CoroCoro Nintendo have confirmed that they are releasing a sequel to Pokémon Ranger for the DS. The original game steered away from the main Pokémon series and had you play a very different RPG experience. You played a Ranger on the island of Fiore and had to capture the critters in a unique way - using the stylus to draw circles around the Pokémon to capture them and set out on different missions with them - your squad of Pokémon's moves being useful in varied situations. From the images in CoroCoro, it appears that the Pokémon from Diamond and Pearl will be included in this new game and it looks like they have kept the same style of solid and colourful graphics from the previous game. The big hook for the first Ranger was the fact that it gave you a free Manaphy egg so you could transfer it to Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. Will this game have the same offer? And which Pokémon will it be? |
It's Shaymin; a grass-type 'hedge-hog' (LITERALLY; it looks like a Chia-Pet hedgehog). It's tied in with the 11th movie that's going to be released in Japan this year. You get a letter that belongs to Prof. Oak and it's transferred to Diamond / Pearl. I already got "Oak's Letter" from an Action Replay on Diamond to see what happens. I also have the "Membership Card" (for Darkrai) and "Azure Pipe" (for Arceus) through the AR. OH, and there's also a code I have to get the Manaphy Egg over and over again through the Event Man (appears in Poke Marts) in-game.
