The 3DS isn't performing quite as hideously as people want to make it out to be.
In the start of February 2005 (2 months and 2 weeks after launch), the DS sold around 37,000 a week, while the GBA was selling 70,000 a week.
This week (2 months after launch) the 3DS is selling 32,000 while the DS sold 50,000.
In EMEAA, the DS sold 35,000 2 months after launch, while the 3DS is selling 30,000 2 months after launch.
In Japan, the DS sold 32,000 2 months after launch (in February) while the 3DS is selling 23,000 (in May).
Overall, the 3DS is performing slightly worse than the DS originally did. Which is somewhat poor, obviously, but far from atrocious. Starting out slightly worse than the system that went on to become the best selling video game machine of all time isn't the worst thing that could happen.
And those Mario Kart Wii sales make me very happy.
