NGP's backwards compatibility unveiled

Is this really an exciting thing? I assume the greater majority of users own their games on UMD, therefore how does digital backwards compatible even help you? Won't you still have to rebuy the game?

Seems like it shouldn't be labelled as backwards compatibility but mroe of a Sony's own Virtual Console.
