Yeah he wanted to through it out the window.  Because it looked like a hybrid between the SNES pad (bulged, rounded edges and shoulder buttons) and the Genesis pad (2 rows of 3 face buttons).

nope.he wanted to do this because he believed nobody will acept it because every gamer(remember it's Japan for them Japan gamer was every gamer that time) liked SNES pad.Read a little more about PSX history and Ohga and Kutaragi.
