I heard this rumour as well and i really hope not.
1. if Sqaure ever do a remake of FF7 it should be when they arnt churning out remakes again and again, we need new games not just rereleases of old games.
2. a remake without Hinorobu Sakaguchi will not end well - in the same way FF has not been good since Sakaguchi left the series.
3. why? we already know what happens, the point of a big budget FF is to give players a new experience. a FF7 remake will just feature more polygons and voice acting, i look for new experiences in games not just the same thing in HD.
