3. MS did not profit on X360 hardware from day 1. |
I don't won't to be meen but i work as a technologist in one of the company that produces RAM.
And i now something about producing GPUs and CPUs costs.
If GPU cost 400$ on shelf it cost to produce is a little above 100$ and with potential contract for 50-100mln GPUs(Best sold ever GPUs for PC sold around 4-5mln) contract the profit which NVIDIA would take around 4-5$ on one GPU.These are the cost of manufactring for today.if console would be maid for late 2012 start it would cost 60$ with profit of Nvidia. In 2013 these would be around 45$.
So judging by past in next console there will be put GPU for around 110$ so if X3/PS3 will start late 2012 you can expect modified 2xGPU SLI from end of this year with mid power consumption with power around 2xGTX580.look when ps3 started in 2006 it contained RSX which is compared to 2x6800Ultra combined in SLI,the video card from 2004) so it's not lot to expect to have 2x 2010 cards combined in SLI for 2012/2013 hardware.and X360 debuted in 2005 and have even better GPU.PS3 wasn't expensive because of GPU it,was BD,and second CPU from PS2 that made the price 150$ higher than it could be.if PS3 would debuted as naked consol only with DVD and CPU from Intel it would have the same gaming capabilities but it could start for 349$.
