1- There are strong indications that Nintendo is going for a reasonably powerful system by today's standards (unlike they did with the Wii). 2- The next Playstation / Xbox will probably come out just a year after Project Cafe, that's not enough to make hardware much more powerful. 3- During the ongoing console generation, Sony and Microsoft learned that they can't launch a system with high-end components and still expect to make a profit. So it's quite likely that PS4/X3's hardware will cost almost the same to make as Cafe's. It's likely that Sony/MS's next consoles will be more powerful than Nintendo's, but with similar production cost and just a 1-year technological advantage the difference shouldn't be anywhere near Wii vs PS3/360. If I am wrong, that will either be because the ongoing rumors about Cafe are very wrong, or because Sony and Microsoft would shoot themselves in the foot again with expensive hardware. |
This.
And even if the hardware is half as capable as the PS4/NextX, the fact that the resolutions will be on par, the shader support will be there, and the architecture is similar means that support will be far greater for multiplatform titles than it was with Wii.
