Erm, to explain the 80 silver points things:
There's a (Technically, but not really) optional quest at the end of the game that requires you to win a quest item from the Carnival. Doing it much earlier in the game is a hell of a lot cheaper (Not sure about easier).
Otherwise, Silver points can be traded for money, and you can only carry 200 silver points at a time.
