I wish I could just leave it at that, give it a ten, and call it a day. Unfortunately, I do have some complaints.

First of all, aside from a few select moments, *pauses to shoot a death stare at Fire Gobblegut* the game doesn't put up that much of a challenge. And the boss fights are just pathetic. (Well, except for you-know-who, and the last guy in the Boss Blitz Galaxy Speed Run Challenge.)

I also would've liked more open-ended playground-like levels. Most levels don't have any kinds of alternate ways to get to the end of the level, which really hurts the game's replayability.

And Lubba is like the video game character equivalent of those people who call you all the time, and never know when to hang up the phone.

Anyways. Stuff I like:

I like how they made exploring the starship non-mandatory. Never been big on exploring the hub worlds.

I like the controls. I see absolutely no way to improve them any further.

I like the music. I really like the music. Galaxy 2 is the only non-Mega Man game alongside Super Metroid, Sonic & Knuckles, A Link to the Past, and Chrono Trigger, that wouldn't make me shake my head in condemnation if somebody claimed it had the best soundtrack in gaming.

Still, it doesn't have the infinite replayability of a well-made 2D Mario game, as most levels are pretty streamlined, and power-ups are mandatory for the completion of the level, instead of optional.

But, bah, I'm not going to start that 2D Mario vs. 3D Mario shit in a nice, happy thread like this.
