| MaxwellGT2000 said: Wow some heated discussions in here, it's funny a little positive news is posted and people shit bricks going IT COULD NEVER HAPPEN! When it could, it probably won't since Nintendo really isn't Sony, they don't produce or push older hardware, or bridge their titles between two platforms to fill in games in software support. It's not their style, but seriously, if by some chance Nintendos price drops and evergreen titles alone make the Wii coast to at least 150 million lots of people here would have egg on their face, People often overlook the late adoptors which is where Sony showed Nintendo and Sega how it's done with the PS1, both companies were awful about pushing hardware in a meaningful way back then cause they were essentially told to sell the systems like toys (IE the NES was in the Toy department FFS) things have changed and Nintendo might have changed their stance on supporting a system late into it's life, everyone needs to keep an open mind here me thinks. |
Don't let this 'Wii is trending above PS2' misguide you, it doesn't really mean anything and certainly doesn't forecast their future. Wii is rapidly dropping about 5 million shipped YoY since 09 (25M, 08 > 20M, 09 > 15M, 10 > 13M 11 (expected ...)
Wii doesn't have the support of 3rd parties or developing countries to keep it chugging along, it's just down down down from here on out.
FY11 13M
FY12 10M
FY13 6M
FY14 3M
Leftover 2M
Total 120
How you think it's going to get another 32 million there from chugging along ... LOL
Nintendo have said it would be great to get 50% volume of the current userbase 86M, which is 129 .. but lately they've been off the mark a lot with Wii, the last 3 Q's have all been adjusted down, last FY they expected 18 mill, then dropped to 17.5, then 16M then ended up with 15M
