You think you are joking, but in today's market with all sorts of super hyped up buckets of shit games out, this method probably works out the bestl. I may be joking but there's some truth to it.

We often see a lot of incomplete games released nowadays. Why? They can patch it afterward. That shit was unacceptable before. Do you think they have time to create a demo when their main game isn't complete?

They also know that their shitty DRM cannot stop piracy. Those that __really__ wanted to demo first and buy later, have the only option to pirate first to demo then buy it later if it's good.

And finally the 3rd option, which you specified. With hype and videos, you can't often tell if it's a good game until you played it. Which would be too late since you've already bought it.

Another option would be to allow people to fully refund their games even after they have been opened. In the exact case of opton three.
