Reading all the comments on this thread is really changing my view of F Zero. I never knew there was such a consensus among fans that GX had problems, and that X was F-Zero done right.
Seeing as this is my first generation as a console owner and serious gamer, it makes sense that I'm probably a bit lacking in the skillz department when it comes to fast, dexterous operation of a controller. I've probably blamed my own skills more often than not when a game didn't control like I expected. Coming back to some games like Rogue Squadron and GX after having put them aside for a few years, I am beginning to see how my perception is changing over time due to experience.
Sometimes this means my past fond memories of certain games are ruined in this manner, when I realize I didn't understand them well enough or that my standards were not very refined. Hopefully this process is for the better. As long as there are always enough good games available to play I should be alright.
(Also, I guess now wouldn't be the best time to bring the DK Jungle Beat bongos out of the closet
)
Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!
