i liked the black eyed peas when they did hip hop, i just don't think they have much skill. i mean for 'dirty bit' they stole the bassline from the deadmau5 track 'you and i' and the syth bit was very very basic. sure, it got me up dancing when i was blocked one night, but i like an artist to have real skill. anyway to each his own.

gaga was played back then in the clubs, but not much, at least not when proper dj's were doing sets. remixes were common, but when gaga set out at first, she certainly wasn't aiming for the dj market or the serious electronic fans. she realised how popular electronic music had the potential to be (Daft Punk etc), put some vocals in it and made it mainstream. she was smart, and now she's worth a fortune.

anyway, i don't like lady gaga much because i think her music is cheesy, just like a lot of dance music today (like David Guetta). I have a more specific taste of progressive house and clever trance.

Deadmau5 sure got a boost for 4x4=12 from this new level of popularity for dance music, but he would have 100% 'made it' without Gaga. Not many Gaga fans would like deadmau5's stuff a few years back. The dj's and hardcore fans that did made deadmau5.

Anyway, i've almost forgot what this whole debate was about. Basically, you like Gaga, I don't. And deadmau5 would have made it without Gaga, easily.

I like deadmau5 and I like gaga, I have met Deadmau5 several times in Toronto and I have heard it from his own mouth. He knows very well he would have stayed very underground without Daft Punk, DJ whiteshadow, and red One among others. These are Gaga producers.

As for gaga being cheezy? Really get over yourself. Her lyrics and beats are cruel and raw and hard pounding. No mainstream pop artsist has ever sang about hookers, plainout dirty sex, or even use clever metaphors to hide it.

You are really delisional if you think her core base fans are not "serious electronic fans," her appeal and talent has given her more "fans" that can be multiplied 10 times over her core base, but at the end of the day her core base is the only one that will buy anything she puts out when she is not mainstream any more. Every DJ I have worked with knows what I am telling you. I have 10 years of promoting underground artist under my belt, so please don't try to lecture me on who is who or who buys what becasue I actually know these people, I don't  just read about it over the internet.

Gaga is on the radio because 1. Corporate sponsorship and 2. Shes pop (Which is considered family music). Im not taking anything away from her, She makes catchy music and sells alot of music (which is a good thing) and hell on top of that shes with Interscope (Hope to Eminem, 50 Cent, Game, Dre ect ect) No wonder shes pulling those kinda of numbers.
