It seems once the casual bubble burst in Japan, things just went to hell there in the gaming industry.  Before, the DS was doing over 100k per week and the Wii was doing 70k something per week.  The top games were things like housekeeping diaries.

Indeed. I think the gen is just dragging on a bit now, really. All consoles are in relative decline, no console will peak this year and all likely massively down YoY WW, and if they hope to keep it going another 4-5 years, they have another thing coming  I reckon. There's no PS2's this gen. No force propelling HW for years. Sadness.

Famitsu expect PS3 to be around 1.4 mill for 2011 and 2012, that's pretty good IMO, it's wii that's letting the side down. They expect 500k in 2012 but even that seems optimistic.
