So, apparently at the beginning of last month, Nintendo took the TCG online, in the form of a beta. I personally haven't played the card game in years and forgot some of the mechanics so I figured I'd give it a shot. I also that this would be the closest I'd get to playing a Pokemon TCG2 (in North America at least).

They give basic decks for you to use (one each of fire, water, grass...you can change decks between battles) and real life Black and White starter decks, provided that you've purchased them in real life (there's some sort of code in the deck box), which I have not used. I had to start off with a refresher, and played the tutorial mode prior to battling in 3 tournaments. There's achievements to attain and tokens to collect, which can be used in the store after it goes live (although, don't get too heavily invested time wise...they may wipe some data at certain points, which might set you back...don't want anyone getting annoyed at me).

I had fun playing it (although, not being able to edit your deck yet sucks...they do happen to do some auto editing, but it's not the same) and would probably continue playing after it goes live, assuming it's still free. I have started to go back and take a look through my old cards...and have thought about buying a new starter deck, assuming my friends do as well - I guess that's what their...banking on.
