Well, I could care less what the reason is, it's about time the PS3 kicked some ass!  I mean, it has by far the best lineup of games, but as someone else said, the main difference seperating the PS3 and the 360 is the aggressive advertising the 360 has put forth.  The only reason games like Halo and Gears of War sell like they do is advertising.  I'm not saying they're bad, they're certainly good games, but nothing special.  Killzone and Resistance are equal in quality, yet sell something like 1/5th what Halo and Gears do.  It's a travesty.

Sony has always been pretty laid back with their advertising, and they encourage people to try new things, that's why they gave MediaMolecule so much support and freedom with LittlebigPlanet.

Besides, the 360 and Wii are consoles that cater to certain crowds, whereas the PS3 pretty much is all over the place.  the 360 obviously focuses on american sensibilities, that's why FPS, Racing, and Western Style RPG's do so well on that system.  The Wii is a family/all-ages console, that's why mario and donkey kong and zelda and the Wii series do so well.  The PS3 doesn't have a focus.  It's got action games, adventure games, FPS games, western and JRPG's, platformers, racing games, sports games, fighting games, etc.  I can't think of a more varied console aside from perhaps the PS2.
