Besides optimization to a platform, why care about exclusivity?

I need clarification. When you say platforms do you just mean pertaining to the consoles, or do you include the PC as well. I can probably write a 2 page paper as to why all FPS, Strategy, and RPGs should only be made for the PC over any console that doesn't support as many keys as a keyboard and/or the fast reponse of a mouse, PLUS the ability to plug in and use other controllers/peripherals.
