I wonder where this idea that resolution is everything as far as graphic quality is concerned came from... because it isn't, sure it does help but we dont need to advance past it yet, because atleast as far as consoles are concerned we largely haven't got there especially at a steady 60FPS. Not saying we shouldn't look to higher resolutions but atleast conquer 1920X1080 first yes?
But as I say there are other far more important and significant areas to improve upon to improve the graphical capabilities.
