At the end of the day, in every creative medium, diversity comes at the expense of quality. There is an infinite space of new ideas out there, but most of them aren't very good ones. Also it is extremely rare to nail a concept on the first try. While I would certainly appreciate more diversity, the sad truth is if the industry were driven purely by innovation, games would probably become less fun...

It's ironic, but true, and I'm not even getting into the financial side. There needs to be a balance...
