as others have already said, with a few good games I think it'll pick up later in the year. Plus at the moment many parents wallets are still recovering from last christmas time.
Both the original ds and the wii launched later in the year and were snapped up during the christmas rush. I have a feeling the machine will be more heavily promoted around november to december. It definately needs to be promoted, as many people I know either don't know it exists at all, or just think it's another redesigned ds. In the past nintendo have been able to rely on word of mouth to promote their products, but I don't think that's anymore.
I don't think it's gonna sell like hotcakes in this era (I'm with some of those who believe iPhones etc will cut into portable sales...though I don't think it's gonna be as big a cut as some people are ready to believe) ...but I do think the 3ds will ultimately do well. It's a nintendo handheld ffs!!! If it fails cosmic balance will become unstable and the universe will implode!!!
