Edit - my actual point - a low price is required for high sales, but it is not the main thing. People will buy a console if they can afford it, and it has games that interest them. for years, Wii hardware was pushed by a steady stream of huge games, wii Sports, Play, Fit, Fitplus, WSR, Mario Kart, Galaxy. Then Nintendo 1st party shifted most of its attention to the DS for a while, then to the 3DS and now to the Wii2. 3rd parties did not pick up the slack, because their laughable attempts at making Wii games failed for the most part.
