I do remember when a center 360 arcade model was price below the Wii in 08. Yet Microsoft never out sold the Wii during that entire time period.

The success of the Wii has multipile reason for it.  Price being maybe the last one amongst them.  The main factor was Nintendo not being able to produce the games that the new audience wanted. Some people on here would like to think Nintendo could just release more games. When they did those sequels  didn't sale as much as the original. Wii Sports to Resort, Fit to Fit Plus, Wii Party, and even NSMBWii to  DKCR.

Someone early said something about Nintendo not knowing how big the blue ocean market was. Well if the Gamecube only sold 25 million then 61 million user could be consider new. Then you take the 100 million combined between the HD consoles. That still leaves about 50 million left over from the PS2 I'm saying this since the PS2 is seemnas the Hardcore of the Hardcore consoles. No way all 150 million PS2 owners were nothing, but hardcore gamers."LOL" So any console with a price cut now, and a decent library of games. Can take advantage and maybe sale to them. Depending on what they want from their console of choice.

Regardless it's clear to see Nintendo had a 5 to 6 year plan for the Wii. Even if the were the winners or the loser when it came to market share. They knew they were going to drop another system.
