Dark Souls is the sequel to Demon's Souls which is a PS3 exclusive. Chibi's thinking is that From Software's latest offering will sell better on the PS3. Or something.

Dark Souls is not a sequel to Demon's Souls (which was made clear by the devs):

From your link:

The second game from From Software’s Miyazaki, dubbed Dark Souls, is seen as a spiritual follow-up but the creator is keen to establish clear differences between the two.  Speaking to Edge this month (issue 226) he says “Dark Souls is not the sequel to Demon’s Souls,” making it clear that the two aren’t quite as related as some might think.

Technically speaking your right. My point still stands however.

But your point is factually incorrect, so I don't see how it can stand. Similar situation: HEAVY RAIN was a spiritual successor to Indigo Prophecy, but it was not a sequel. Dark Souls is probably inspired by Demon's Souls in some way, but it isn't a sequel at all.

There will likely be an actual Demon's Souls 2 and it will never be on anything but a PlayStation.

My point is on whether or not a developer or publisher who has traditionally favored one console, as is the case with From Software, has a hard time selling as much on a new one. HEAVY RAIN is exclusive so it doesn't apply. As for Demon's Souls 2 remaining exclusive, remember FFXIII.
