I hope this rumour is BS.
It's coming out in 2012, so not supporting 1080p is inexcusable. I know Nintendo likes to drag its heels when it comes to new technology, but come on! Has there ever been a major console that has lagged behind the previous generation? I can't remember one.
And an 8GB SSD is also inexcusable. SSDs are getting quite cheap nowadays, and they're only going to get cheaper. Even when the Wii2 comes out, 32GB SSDs will probably be going for the same kind of price that old-fashioned HDDs cost now. A couple of years after the Wii2's launch, I'll bet that SSD storage will be well under $0.50 per GB.
Or maybe Nintendo is going to do an Apple and sell a 16GB version that costs $100 more?
BTW, I've noticed that the Chromium spellchecker works for this site's rich text editor. Yet another reason why I'm glad that I switched from Firefox.
