PSP was expensive 6 years ago. True, but average wages have increased over this time. Well in normal countrys anyway.

Touching a restrictive touch screen is not close to the same as doing so on a capacitive. I don't think anyone really knows the difference, do you? If it works it works.

Not according to Nintendo. Nintendo is saying this because they don't want to exclude devs from their console, not because its actually going to be true. They are pushing a new "standard",  just like they pushed analogue control sticks, rumble packs and motion controls. They're showing confidence by launching a brand new console, with a brand new technology, and they're trying to change the way we play.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
