So where are guys like John lucas(Wii will sell 200 million) avinash_tyagi (Wii will outsell the entire playstation family) and Rolstoppable (85% marketshare)?

Come to dinner, the crow is served.

I recall putting a range of 70 - 85 % for the Wii, not that it matters much though.

While that seems outrageous today, it wasn't that unreasonable back then. The common assumption was that the Wii would get better third party support over time. After all, it was breaking one sales record after another while the competition was struggling despite buying marketshare.

Today, the reality is that the Wii experienced its worst case scenario. Next to none noteworthy third party support and Nintendo selfdestructing the console by providing the wrong or no games at all at times. Things would look very different today, if the Wii had gotten equal or better third party support than the HD twins, but alas, this didn't happen. If the third party support pendulum can sink the Wii to hell with its current extreme, it could have risen the Wii to heaven, if the opposite occured.

Good third party support was the fundament of all those lofty lifetime predictions for the Wii. With it being removed from the equation the tower built on it collapsed spectacularly.

PS: The crow for Wii not going to outsell the PS2 was served a year ago already.

Correction:

That was the common assumption for nintendo fans.
