Too much processing power and bandwith required to do that well. Anyway, I don't really see the advantage of doing this multitasking unreleated to gaming. Ever heard of multiple tv sets? If you tell me I could play my game on the Wii2 and then take it with me on the 3DS, like some Sony NGP games promise to do, then that would be something special. I seriously doubt Nintendo can put a DS in your hands as a controller and sell that along with the console for a competitive price. So that new controller will either be limited to simple gameplay or it will cost around $100 just by itself. |
While you could be right and it *could* be too limited, however, considering 360 can play a game, have cross game chats, handle various messages in background, etc, etc. ... and low end PCs can do that and far more... I don't see why it won't be possible based on the rumors of N6.
As far as multiple TV sets.. sure. But means multiple devices (pcs, tablets, gaming consoles, internet connections, etc) to allow that to happen. This proposed idea allows it all through one device. Far better for most consumers.
Also, the system is the computing system, not the controller. Since I see tablets (with full computers in them and 7" touch screens) for ~$100 bucks, I'm sure a controller with only a touch screen could sell for less than $60.
