Even by that metric, the 3DS isn't really doing good compared to DS revisions.
In the five weeks after the DSi launch, the DS did 1488k (same time of the year, April). Now of course that includes the DS lite sales. The DS did 756k in the five weeks after the DS lite launch, that was in June/July.
In the five weeks after the 3DS launch it has done 674k. Keep in mind VGC also has their numbers higher than Nintendo's numbers for Euro sales. Now the kicker is, even combined with the DS it is only around 995k. It is also down YoY when combining the DS and 3DS. The DS/3DS is also selling less weekly than the DS was five weeks after the DS lite launch.
