Metroid's problem is that even at its absolute best that is the innovative original game on the monster of the NES and the immaculate Metroid Prime, there are just too many Nintendo franchises that beat the pants off it in sales, and when there is no longer a dedicated Metroid team (even Sakamoto's group is money better spent on Wario Ware or Rhythm Heaven, at least from a business perspective), it's likely to fall through the cracks one way or another

Mid-gen we'll likely see one for one of the platforms, so about 2014 or so?
