Frankly, I think this is a step in the right direction. But Nintendo needs ot be careful. Like the article said, every time Nintendo has tired to partner with other companies, they end up getting used, abused and then dropped like a sack of kittens to fend for themselves. Not just the Playstation, but you have the N64 and GC, almost completely devoid of third party games. Whereas Nintendo actively tried to get them to work on the system. Even going so far as backdoor 'partnerships' and funding.
Its no wonder they went more internal with the Wii. If people keep stabbing you in the back, you defend yourself with whatever strengths you have. And Nintendo has proven its quite strong even by itself. Though I doubt they can pull the same trick again, which is why they're once again looking for third party support.
