I've noticed a trend with Sony's first party exclusives on PS3. With the exception of Uncharted 2, the sequels have almost all done worse than their predecessors in overall sales.
I don't want to grab the numbers but off the top of my head I'm pretty sure sales for the following sequels lag behind the previous iteration:
Killzone 2 > Killzone 3
Resistance: FOM > Resistance 2
LBP 1 > LBP 2
Motorstorm > Motorstorm: Pacific Rift (and Apocalypse most likely)
R&C: ToD > R&C: Crack in Time
MLB The Show's sales have also declined each year
I know LBP2 and KZ3 are relatively new and could possibly eclipse their predecessor when it's all said and done but they have definitely gotten off to slower starts. I'm curious as to how inFamous 2 and R3 will do this year. With the PS3's installed base continuing to grow, what gives with these software sales numbers?
