hey guys!
I think I just had an epiphany!
Nintendo are always talking about creating more opportunities for players to physically get together and play, like they do in Japan for DQIX or Monster Hunter, or like the wifi thing they have going on with McDonald's over there.
What if "project Cafe" was not just about the console itself, but also about creating more of these "special areas" world-wide?? It could be in the form of dedicated Nintendo store chains like Apple has, or simply a much wider collaboration with existing chains like coffee/fast-food/movie theaters etc...
(personally I've always thought of movie theaters as an opportunity ever since the announcement of spot-pass, since it goes along with Nintendo's collaboration with movie studios, and also ensures players are in the same spot for a long enough time to passively receive large amounts of data on their 3DS, such as movie trailers.)
This would go along with Nintendo's philosophy of spreading gaming as a pastime, as well greatly expanding their brand recognition world-wide (which is definitely going to be helpful if they ever intend to face Apple head-on). Plus it might explain the insane amounts of money they've spent on "R&D" in recent years. (about $1.5 Billion USD since the Wii launched).
Just my $0.02
Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!
