Derailing the thread a bit, but Mr Khan, let me ask...do you find it comfortable playing 2D games on the 3DS?...I haven´t tried it yet but I wonder because of the position of the D pad...is the slide pad good to play a 2D game?

Since we´re talking about Nintendo releasing a 2D Mario, I wonder if many of the people who bought NSMB for the DS will find it uncomfortable to play (the inevitable?) 2D Mario for the 3DS.

Or is there no difference, really?

The slide pad blows for 2D games, but I would say the same about every analog stick. The position of the d-pad makes it kinda hard to press left/up and left/down, but otherwise it's not too bad. I don't think it's going to make a 2D Mario play awkwardly as those two directions are the ones you will need by far the least over the course of the game. It also gets better the longer you play with the d-pad.

Still, playing 2D games on the 3DS isn´t gonna be as good as it is on the DS...I just cringe at the possibility the Castlevania title that´s in the works for the 3DS ends up being a 3D game -_-
