I never had too much of a problem with MH on the PSP either, however that control scheme cannot be truly replicated on the 3DS because of the D-Pad and analogue stick locations.
On the PSP, the analog stick is below the d-pad. Therefore one can control the analog stick with their thumb and the d-pad with their index finger, the so called 'MH Claw' (which I took quite a while to get used to). However, on the 3DS the d-pad and analogue stick postions are the opposite to that on the PSP. The 'MH Claw' can only work on the 3DS if the D-pad is used for movement, while I highly doubt Capcom will do. This is what I meant by the control scheme for MH is likely to change, maybe something involving items mapped to the touch screen?
