You are right, Sonic Heroes indeed sold on the same level as the 16-bit games. So the problem is more that Sega hardly ever makes a good Sonic game than a question of whether it is a 2D or 3D game. And yes, the decline started with Sonic 3. Already back then Sega's problem was to make a great Sonic game. There will be people who disagree, but Sonic 3 wasn't even half the game that Sonic 2 was. I still think a 2D Sonic (a proper effort) would easily be a multimillion seller even in today's market. It's not going to happen though, because Sega doesn't care. The iPhone basically being the lead platform for Sonic 4 really says it all. |
yea ill admit 3 wasnt as good as 2 which may have been apart of the reason for the decline. And yea i think a proper 2d sonic would sell good just not the sonic 1 and 2 levels.
