Besides you can't really compare Wii2 starting a new gen with the previous gens transitions.
I believe it's the first time a console maker gets ready to announce the next console while the current gen consoles software is still around its peak. usually they wait for current gen consoles sales to be way down... ( and the reason they do is that Nintendo hardware and software sales are falling fast compared ot the others 2 console makers).
Right now, 2011 could actually be the peak year for the 360 and close to peak year for PS3 software. So both Sony and Microsoft do not have that many icentives to jump start a new gen...
And support for the current HD consoles really hasn't slowed down ( Acitivsion has no incentive to move to a new base as long as CoD keeps selling 20 million units every year at full price, we still have FF versus incoming, most likely a new GTA and so on...)
PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !
PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !
