4m were shipped units. And it's selling as well as DS was after 3 weeks, so I can't see a problem. As you say, software will drive sales higer, but right now it's doing well.

Ahhh, maybe your right about something. Manufacterers always quote sold figures as units shipped.

3DS dropped a bit more then I expected, and the fact that PSP > 3DS in Japan worries me a bit. I think it will also be a 150 million seller system like the DS, and I am aware that it's tracking better then the DS. I guess it is doing well.

I guess I'm just a bit skeptical because of all the media attention towards the short battery life.

I'll have to wait to see how it sells when some good exclusive software is released. Common Kid Icarus and Zelda!

well, I hoped for better numbers too, but looking at DS' sales in its first weeks 3DS is just doing in line with it, even at an higer price. The only reason why 3DS couldn't match DS in Japan was because it wasn't sold during holidays like DS was. Plus, as you say, it still lacks games (just like DS after a month TBH), so sales will explode later :D
