Wii lowest sales ever? The fad is over!

Shame it only lasted 5 and a half years of course

Credit where it's due, the console was bound to fail, and it didn't. It changed the world, so a few months of average sales won't change that...

The Wii came out in 2006.

*ahem*

4 and a half years

6 years if the Wii2 releases in 2012, as is predicted. I don't think we'll see much of anything at E3 TBH. If we do only a vague hint of something, not a full-blown reveal like the 3DS last year...

i'm not going to argue for or against the fad argument. but the fact is wii sales didn't just start droping, they've been dropping since 2007.

And yet it's STILL on par with the other two consoles, as proven by your signature, which doesn't look too good for the HD consoles..

Looks pretty fantastic for 2nd and 3rd place consoles to me, the market leader sales are the one's that don't look too good.

Unlike most people here, I prefer to look at the bigger picture, rather than not looking past the weekly trends. And the big picture is that Wii has sold 87 million units and looks to sell at least 100 million in a 5-6 year span, coming off a 22 million selling console, selling over 30 million more than its HD competitors, which have almost all of the third party support locked up. That to me is not only good, but phenomenal.

Wii is a major and completely unexpected success, nothing from this point on can change that fact, even if the console fails to sell a single unit from here on out. The REAL question will be if Nintendo can sustain this success and remain smart going into the next gen, which to me so far it doesn't look like they are.
