I'm not pleased with Nintendo going with the "Keeping up with the Joneses" strategy as of late. Selling a dedicated gaming handheld at $250 is a joke and then you have Sony quickly countering with an even more powerful handheld (NGP) and you have Android smartphones with glasses-free 3D rumored to be coming out late this year. What's the point of trying to "keep up with the Joneses" when someone else is just going to come out with something more powerful anyway? Nintendo would be better served focusing on innovation, not graphical prowess. Especially when their main audience is children and the parents who buy the consoles and games for them. And the same goes for this Wii HD/Wii 2. Even if they were to launch it at like $300, what's the point of trying to woo the "core gamer" demographic with HD graphics when the PS4 and Xbox 720 will absolutely destroy the Wii HD/Wii 2 in the graphic department? Nintendo is just going to piss off all the people who bought a Wii for $200 recently. If Nintendo wanted to drum up more interest for the Wii, they should go with the price cut to $150 and have more first-party titles lined up. You don't just go by a calendar and say " a successor every 5-6 years". This generation has a lot more life in it than the last one. What's the point in cutting it's life short? To appease a bunch of "core" HD gamers that already have a PS3/360 to play their third-party HD games? Low-res graphics isn't killing the Wii. Nintendo's waning first-party support is killing the Wii.
