It is extremely simple when you actually think about it for more than a second. The deal, under ideal circumstances, will take at least a year to be completed. The stock price at the end of that year will determine how much people get paid during the buy-out. More customers means more money. It doesn't matter where those customers come from.

The only confusing part is why this is in Sales. T-mobile doesn't make phones, and to the best of my knowledge neither does ATT. Subscription numbers and sales aren't even remotely the same thing. This should obviously go in off topic.
