The situation in Poland is very different from the situation in Western Europe and USA. If consoles were a month's salary, and games, a week's salary, people would not buy them, whilst in Poland, they may. Why? Far more alternatives to spend the money on. In the UK, a month's wage can buy a holiday abroad for a family. With two month's savings while working part time at McDonald's and still going clubbing once every couple of weeks, I was able to afford the flights and accomodation for me to go on holiday for a week in Turkey.
That's a part time job at McDonald's, two months, and going out clubbing once every two weeks, and also my phone bill... able to afford a holiday in Turkey.
What I'm getting at is that the situation is different in countries like Poland because, no matter how expensive the consoles are... the alternatives are either much, much more expensive, or even non-existant.
