Well it is, but not for the reasons you think.

Hollywood grew, because the US had the most dominate economy at the time.  The US had the most dominat economy at the time, partly because... yes the US wasn't in a warzone.


The US still has the most dominate economy, as far as a "unified culture" goes. .. so it would really just replay itself.

 

I mean war breeds culture, it doesn't kill it. (Well outside the art destroyed as collatral damage by war.)

It could also be due to the fact that the movie industry was exploited for profit more in the US then in other places in the world. European movies have always had more of an indie-feel, and never seem to be made to entertain.
