I don't hope it's true, Quantic Dream needs to be a free studio, although Sony are definitely a great place for them to be. If they must be purchased, Sony is the right one to do so, but it's not ideal.

With Sony, they are free, which is one of the main reasons devs like working with them so much. I think for the kind of company Sony is and the types of games Quantic produces, the acquisition would be quite ideal.

They're not free, they're locked to Sony, and no matter how much freedom they have within Sony, they are still forever locked to them. What if they want to create something new and exciting for another platform next generation?

Then they WILL create something new and exciting for Sony's platform next generation.

But they would do it because they had to. Basically, QD should have the creative freedom to choose whatever platform they want to develop for, as I believe that next generation will see very different consoles, where the big three try to differentiate themselves through interface rather than power. As QD have shown that they like to work with new interfaces and ways of interacting with a game, locking them down to Sony's platforms for all eternity is a bad idea in my opinion.
There's been a big discussion about it in the thread already if you want more details...
