3DS is a very anti-social device.  To me that is a major problem.

I've formed conversational relationships with people I'd never really talked to before because they're on my way home from work.

StreetPass is kind of an amazing social tool all on its own.

That's incredible!!

where are you located in the world? Can you give an example of how one of these random encounters played out? I'd really love to hear other people's stories about things like this. thank you.

It's nothing super fantastic. I live in Toronto, Ontario and live on the subway line. There's a guy who works in a shop on my way home from work - I noticed that I had passed him a couple of times, so on the third day I just went in and struck up a conversation.

Nowadays we talk about video games more or less every day, shooting the breeze while our 3DSes register each other.

I made a new friend, is the point.

Does the 3DS give you some kind of audio signal when another system is nearby?

How did you know it was coming from him?

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!
