It definitely has not been rumored enough with sufficient evidence. I've seen the bits and pieces and the biggest influence on the rumor is fan support, not actual clues. An yes I might be alone on my opinion, but that says nothing about the quality of the opinion. I don't think your argument that my opinion is biased is going to go much further. If it was in response to me calling the movement for porting such a classic "retarded" then I'll apologize; I didn't feel it came off strongly as it was not directed towards anyone's comment in particular. Otherwise I'd rather not continue this. My biggest complaint comes from a general disdain for a lack of new content built specifically for new hardware. I always feel software shows it's potential (all elements, rather than some) the most when it is built from the ground up for the hardware it is being released on. I love smash, but it's gone through 3 extensive iterations on the home console. There is now a new piece of hardware with new potential - lets build something new in the fighter genre that showcases that potential. Even if we love smash, another game can encompass some of its awesome quailities, but creating a new smash, or worse, porting an old version over, only limits some of the aspects that were present on the hardware it was built for. To me those include the local multiplayer (especially for an off the wall fighter), screen size (smash heavily utilized the "off-screen" element), a tailored controller (DS controls are not nearly as fitting as the home console controllers), and as brawl proved, an amazing soundtrack (DS speakers would be a letdown, yes headphones are an option). |
That was a much better comment than your first. Giving an intelligent decision sometimes helps. As far as rumors go, interviews with nintendo people has hinted at Smash Bros. It doesn't mean its going to happen, but it is an option if they choose so.
